While we love a good psychological thriller, scary horror film, or exciting action movie, sometimes you just want to sit down and for a lighter, easier watch. Wonka is the perfect movie for that, as the musical fantasy has a brighter and funnier tone than its predecessors, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (which starred Gene Wilder) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which starred Johnny Depp). This new chapter in the story of Willy Wonka is actually a prequel of sorts to the previous movies, so you can expect to see the origin story of Willy Wonka and how he became a chocolatier, as well as scenes from his childhood and where the Oompa Loompas came from.

Timothée Chalamet plays the role of Wonka, while Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Hugh Grant, and Olivia Colman fill out the rest of the cast. The film is already receiving positive reviews, with Chalamet receiving a nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globe Awards, while Lane and costume designer Lindy Hemming received nominations at the Critics' Choice Award for Best Young Actor and Best Costume Design, respectively.

Wonka is currently in theaters, but if you're in the mood to rewatch it or would just rather watch the film from your home, you're probably looking into the usual streaming sites. Here’s what we know about when you can stream and watch Wonka at home.

How to Stream Wonka

As of right now, you cannot stream Wonka at home. The good news is that Wonka should start to be available for digital purchase around February 2024, and since it's a Warner Bros. production, it’ll eventually be on Max, and timing for that will likely see it pop up on the streamer by March 2024.

In the meantime, you can catch Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Max right now.
