How to Stream All the Emmy Awards Frontrunners This Year
It’s shaping up to be a triumphant year for HBO at the Emmys. At last year’s awards, the most prestige of all the prestige TV platforms was outpaced by Netflix, which scored 44 wins overall. But based on this year’s nominations, which were announced on Tuesday, July 12, HBO is back with a vengeance.
HBO earned the most overall nods by a handy margin, racking up a total of 140 nominations, with its masterful family drama Succession earning the most nods of any series. Second in line was Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso, which got 20 nominations versus Succession’s 25.
It was an exceptionally strong year for new shows. Three of the five most-nominated contenders were freshman shows—The White Lotus, Only Murders in the Building, and Hacks —while newbies Severance, Squid Game, Abbot Elementary and Yellowjackets also made strong showings.
All of which means that even if you’re a voracious TV consumer, you probably have some catching up to do before the Emmy Awards ceremony on September 12th. Here’s exactly how to watch all of this year’s Emmy frontrunners.
