If, like us, you've been absolutely glued to your TV screens since the final season of Stranger Things premiered on Netflix last month, then you'll know just how big of a role Sadie Sink – aka Max Mayfield – has in the fourth series. Given her impact on the show, it's no wonder that the epic series has had an impact on her as well, particularly when it comes to her confidence – something which the stars of the show, who have been catapulted into fame, need in abundance.

"Confidence is something that always goes up and down," the 20-year-old actor told Glamour. "There are times when you’re feeling really confident and other times where you’re a little more insecure."

Speaking about how her Stranger Things character, Max, has transformed her self confidence, Sadie went on: "For me, playing Max, who is such an outspoken and bold character, has really helped build my own confidence up."

She continued, "Throughout middle school and high school, I don’t think there was ever a moment where I wasn’t doubting myself or feeling insecure and just trying to find myself. You really have to get past those teenage years before you get there."

As for how she got through those teenage years, Sadie said that acting was her lifeline. "Being on set is when I feel the most empowered," she revealed. "Doing what I have loved since I was six years old is where I feel my best."

And Sadie isn't the only Stranger Things alum who says the show has had an impact on their self confidence, as costar Millie Bobby Brown has echoed much of the same feelings. "The day I shaved my head was the most empowering moment of my whole life," Millie wrote in a series of now-deleted Tweets [via Bustle], referencing her character Eleven who made her debut on the series wearing a hospital gown and with a shaved head. "The last strand of hair cut off was the moment my whole face was on show and I couldn’t hide behind my hair like I used to. As I looked in the mirror I realised I had one job to do. Inspire."

"Shaving your head is so empowering," Millie wrote in another tweet. "You don't need hair to be beautiful. You are beautiful with or without."
