‘Stranger Things’ Star Millie Bobby Brown Reveals She's Deaf in One Ear

Millie Bobby Brown is living proof that you don’t need two functioning ears to crush it in Hollywood.

In a recent interview with Variety, Brown opened up about her musical aspirations and revealed she has a legitimate reason for singing off-key (unlike us). The Stranger Things star was born with a partial hearing defect in one ear, and despite years of treatments, she eventually lost the ability to hear out of that ear.

Although Brown doesn’t exactly know what she sounds like when she performs, she refuses to let her disability impede her from pursuing her dreams. She said, “I just started to sing, and if I sound bad I don’t care, because I’m just doing what I love.”

Brown hopes her story will inspire others to push past social norms. She continued, “You don’t have to be good at singing. You don’t have to be good at dancing or acting. If you like to do it, if you genuinely enjoy doing it, then do it. No one should stop you.”

Except for Demogorgons—those things have zero sympathy. Stranger Things season two is now streaming on Netflix.
