Young Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin has revealed that he is ready to throw in the hat for a superhero role.

In a recent Q&A session at the 2022's Heroes Comic Con in Brussels, McLaughlin said he wanted to join the DC Extended Universe live-action for Static Shock. McLaughlin told fans at the panel,

"What other movie would I like...I want to do a superhero film. I would love to play Static Shock honestly...

I would want to do something like a superhero, or even something...it doesn't matter. I'm really open to being any character. I feel like I can play anybody honestly. It really -- I feel like how I pick my films is really what speaks to me. Also, I'm also developing other projects myself that will be coming out. Not soon, but soon. But yeah, it really doesn't matter actually. It's just whatever like project speaks to me and my creativity."

In August 2020, DC FanDome announced that it was planning on a live-action film adaptation of Static Shock. Michael B. Jordan has been attached to produce the film under his company Outlier Society with Randy McKinnon tapped as the film's writer. With the many changes happening at Warner Bros. Discovery, it is currently uncertain when the project will come to fruition. There are currently no timelines regarding the film, however Jordan stated in April 2021 that although there are "no real updates," the film is still "in the process" of being built out.
