"Stranger Things" Fans Are Honoring Alexei on Free Slurpee Day

• New Stranger Things character Alexei is passionate about Slurpees.
• July 11th, (7/11) as you may know, is Free Slurpee day at 7-Elevens around the country.
• Stranger Things fans are paying tribute to Alexei's favorite drink on social media.

Alexei, the Russian scientist-turned-cult-favorite, may have been taken from us in the midst of Stranger Things' third season (RIP, he was too pure for this world), but his memory, and his new favorite beverage (even 'shit strawberry') will live on in our hearts.

As Free Slurpee Day arrived at 7-Elevens around the country, people had extra motivation this year to seek out an icy, delicious drink: Stranger Things 3 definitely put it right in the front of all of our heads.

And with a prompt from the official Stranger Things Twitter account ("please find it in your hearts today to reply chug with a cherry slurpee for alexei," the show tweeted), reactions began flying in, with people paying tribute to their fallen carnival-loving Russian prince.

Slurpee pics weren't the only currency flying around, though—fans were also sharing very funny Alexei memes, paying tribute to the man himself, his favorite frozen beverage, and those mourn when he was left behind.

He and Murray (who, of course, was brought in to help translate) were growing so close! The bromance that was stolen from us. Imagine how happy Alexei would've been with his Woody Woodpecker in one hand and a corndog from Murray in the other. Robbed. We were absolutely robbed.
