Stranger Things season four has officially been everything we hoped for and more - from intense fan theories, to some seriously emotional scenes.

Still, given the fact that the show's complex plot spans far and wide, there have of course been a couple of moments which have *slightly* confused viewers. One detail in particular which fans had questions about: Hopper's sword, which he used to fight a Demogorgon in episode nine.

Viewers were initially confused by the sword, which seemed to randomly appear out of nowhere. However, some super-sleuth fans now reckon they've cracked the mystery, and it all makes a whole load of sense.

In case you need a refresher, here's the sword in question:

One viewer took to Twitter to share an explanation for the sword's appearance, writing, "'Where'd that sword come from?!' Yeah, I thought it too."

They went on to explain that we'd actually seen the sword previously inside the weapons locker shown in episode seven, writing, "Then I remembered [in] ep 7 the prisoners had to fight a Demogorgon, and they ran to get weapons. Went back and looked, and there it is."

So, hey, turns out the sword wasn't so random after all! What's more, Hopper actor David Harbour has been busy referencing the sword foreshadowing himself - sharing details on the weapon's origins in the process.

He wrote in an Instagram post, "Nerd alert. The prop at the end of episode 9 is the Atlantean sword from the Conan films. A lovely fan found a still of when it was established in ep 7 and used by an unlucky inmate who met an untimely death near the cells at the side of our gladiatorial pit."

Harbor went on to reveal that Hopper's sword in Stranger Things is in fact the same one used by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Conan The Barbarian, with the actor adding, "It was heavy as hell, and such a tremendous honour to wield."

Mystery: solved.
