  • A Stranger Things fan found a clue that could mean Hopper's alive.

  • David Harbour said that even he doesn't know if Hopper's alive or not.

Stranger Things fans are not planning to rest until they find out exactly what happened to Hopper, which probably wont' be until we finally get a season 4. At the end of season 3, Hopper seemingly dies, but his dead body was never shown and we know what that means usually. Fans have been cooking up theories about Hopper being alive and where he could possibly be. In one theory, Hopper is actually "The American" being held hostage by the Russians, meaning he's actually alive. Now, one fan found another clue that Hopper may be alive. His car was spotted out on the Stranger Things set in Georgia.

The picture of Hopper's Chevrolet was first posted to Reddit. In the picture, you can see other older cars and crew members seemingly setting up. Though, the picture could somehow mean that Hopper's alive, it could also simply be a prop being used for a flashback. After all, the car looked like it was pretty much destroyed last season.

But if that really is Hopper's car, it being on set could simply mean that the new season will feature some callbacks to older scenes involving Hopper. At the end of season 3, we see how Hopper's "death" affected El. The new season could possibly feature her memories of Hopper taking her in as his daughter.

Another theory some people have pointed out is that someone could have inherited Hopper's car. Now, that Hopper's gone, Hawkins could have appointed a new chief of police and given them the old vehicle Hopper used.

David Harbour, the actor that plays Hopper, recently admitted that he originally did believe that he was actually "The American."

David opened up about the scene during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. "At the end there's the post-credits scene– there's this thing where it's 'the American,' you know? And I was like, ‘Oh, clearly I’m the American. And then I haven’t gotten many phone calls," David said.

But he also admitted that he wouldn't be surprised if Hopper was actually dead.

“Well, here’s the thing. I always knew that Hopper had to make a sacrifice. Like, he’s a jerk, and he also needs to pay for that in some way… so I thought he’d make the sacrifice,” David said.

The creators of Stranger Things are continuing to keep fans in the dark, so I guess we'll have to keep searching for clues about what really happened to Hopper.
