'Stranger Things' Actor Noah Schnapp Reveals Why He Works a Summer Job

We love a humble star.

Noah Schnapp may have been famous for being a big TV star for the last few years, but the 17-year-old Stranger Things star has a slightly more discrete profession for the summer months.

The actor recently sat down with Flaunt, where he revealed that this summer, he’s working what is perhaps the most quintessential of teenaged jobs—a lifeguard.

Obviously, Schnapp, a key member of the ensemble on Netflix’s second ever show to hit a billion hours viewed, per the publication, doesn’t need a poolside gig, but the recent high school grad said he likes to be able to live like any other kid. “I’ve kind of grown up with a normal life and normal friends and stuff outside of Stranger Things, so it’s kind of kept me grounded,” he told Flaunt. Above anything else, his role in the lifeguard tower is really just for fun as he prepares to move into the dorms at the University of Pennsylvania, where he’ll be enrolled in the school of business.

Naturally, going for acting crossed the incoming freshman’s mind, but he said that would be too repetitive. “Millie [Bobby Brown] is doing the same thing with her schooling—she’s kind of learning about other things. I thought it would make more sense to do something different,” he said. “And business was a pretty clear next thing for me.” After all, he’s already created a more sustainable alternative to Nutella, and has been vocal about using his influence to make positive changes to the planet.

And somewhere in between saving lives and bettering the world in which we live, he will, of course, make time to film Season 5 of Stranger Things.
