"Stranger Things 3" Releases First Trailer Ahead of July Premiere

This is a lot to take in.

Unfortunately, we're no closer to understanding what the heck a bunch of rats are doing in Hawkins, Indiana, but the newest trailer for Stranger Things 3 provides a lot more insight into what's ahead. Along with the return of our favorite BFF duo — Steve and Dustin — the new season, arriving on July 4, 2019, looks to feature some thrilling drama, a few trips to that mysterious mall, and, yes, lots of rats.

Netflix dropped the newest trailer for the upcoming season on March 20, and while it begins with the group playing a practical joke played on Dustin, the action soon intensifies, alerting us to the fact that our fave group of friends possibly aren't as close as before. Although the group initially begins the brief clip together, the trailer soon leads to a voiceover from Mike, who declares, "We're not kids anymore. I mean, what did you think, we were just gonna sit in my basement all day, play games for the rest of our lives?"

It's unclear what happened to cause the possible riff between friends, but the brief moment serves as a prelude for what's to come. The trailer then quickly flashes through a number of intense scenes, including Eleven standing on a beach surrounded by dark clouds, the gang rushing through doors to possibly save the day, some rats scurrying through a hall, one scary looking Demogorgon, and Steve, presumably in danger, but still rocking television's best hair.

Phew, it's certainly a lot to take in, but with the new season not arriving until July, we have plenty of time to watch this one again and again.
