Straight Pride Parade organizers called bomb squad after receiving envelopes filled with glitter and Bible verses

Bomb squads responded to suspicious letters sent to the organizers of the Boston Straight Pride Parade on Monday, according to NBC10 Boston. The letters, sent to locations in Woburn, Salisbury and Malden, Mass., were filled with glitter and Bible verses, with "Happy Pride" signed at the bottom in rainbow colors.

One of the verses included was Psalm 86:15: "But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness..."

Organizer Samson Racioppi said that the letters were taped shut and had no return address.

"I could hear something shaking," Racioppi, a member of the group Super Happy Fun America, told NBC. "It was probably bigger than grains of sand and I was immediately suspicious."

While the FBI is working with local agencies to identify the source of the letters, the culprit has not broken state or federal laws. A source, speaking with the station, stated the authorities believe the incident to be a "legit use of the mail."

"We, of course, called the police, I mean why would we open something like that? Even if it's nothing in it, it's still terrorism as far as I'm concerned because obviously it's meant to intimidate us," parade organizer John Hugo told CBS Boston. Hugo claims that the group has received hate mail regarding the parade and that their addresses were shared online.

The glitter-packed envelopes have not intimidated the group, however, and the "straight pride" parade is still expected to occur on Aug. 31 in Boston.

"The parade will be a seminal moment in the history of civil rights in America," Super Happy Fun America states. "All are welcome, both straights and allies, to join us in celebrating the diverse history, culture and contributions of the straight community."
