This Is Straddie Slab Surfing at Its Finest

Stradbroke Island has a lot to offer. Not only is Straddie stunningly pretty, but there are waves a-plenty. Although there are waves for someone a little newer to the game, some are not waves for the beginner. Like the slab you see above, courtesy of Raw Surfing.

The west shore is full of sparkling white sand beaches that look onto secluded bays. The east side is all rocky headlines, shooting up towards the clouds with some of the most spectacular beaches anywhere. The interior is dotted with lakes and lagoons, and the three little towns are quiet and quaint.

The slab in the video above, though, is not quiet and quaint. It’s thick and mean and hollow, breaking onto very shallow water. But for those who paddled out, the waves on offer were ones that’ll be remembered for a long time.
