Story of Dog Who Spent Hours 'Looking for a Family' Finally Comes to a Close

Every year over three million dogs enter animal shelters across the United States. Some of these pups are adopted within hours, and some of them can languish in shelters for years. One dog who arrived at the Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento finally had his stay at the shelter come to an end after his sweetly sad habit went viral on social media.

The shelter shared a video on TikTok of the dog, who they named Steven Tyler, gazing out the shelter window for hours at a time wishing for a family to give him a forever home. This dream finally came true for this precious pup in a story reported on October 18.

People Magazine reports, "Shortly after Steven Tyler moved into the shelter, the rescue's staff noticed that the dog had a touching habit — he could often be found staring out the window of his room.

"He must have spent hours every day just looking out of the window. It really was like he was just waiting patiently for someone to ask to meet him," Anona says, adding that the only things "you would find him doing would be resting his chin on the window sill and gazing out into the front lobby, or cuddling up to his kennel mate."

After the clip of Steven went super viral and received over two million views on social media, a family that saw the video came in to adopt him.

Steve's new family changed his name to Donner and  the sweet boy settled into his new family which includes young children and another rescue dog.

"We couldn't have asked for a better outcome for him. They say it feels like he's been there forever," Anona shares.

There are so many dogs waiting for their forever homes, and Donner's story is just a wonderful example of how your forever friend could be patiently waiting for you, staring out a window and hoping you'll come, right now.
