Wondering if Megan Thee Stallion’s real name is, in fact, Megan Thee Stallion? Yep! But also nope. While Megan is her first name, her legal full name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete. Thee Stallion is only one of Megan’s stage names. She also goes by Htown Hottie, Tina Snow, and Hot Girl Meg—and each of her alter egos has a specific backstory based on “personalities I go through on the day-to-day basis,” so listen up, please and thank you.

So Where’d “Thee Stallion” Come From?

Megan told Houstonia that she was called “Stallion” as a teen and decided to just go with it. At first, the nickname was simply her social media handle, but it eventually morphed into a stage name.

“Since I was younger, probably about 15 or 16, I’ve always had the same body. Older guys would always be like, ‘Oh, you a stallion.’ So I finally had to ask like, is that a good thing? Everybody pretty much took it and ran with it, and then I put it as my main name on Twitter, and ever since then, everybody’s just been calling me Stallion.”

What About Htown Hottie and Hot Girl Meg?

Megan says Htown Hottie is “just a nickname I gave for myself—I thought it sounded cool, so I was like, yeah, I’ll be that.”

Meanwhile, Hot Girl Meg is like “the party girl, the college girl, she likes to turn up, she likes to have fun”—while regular Meg goes to school and is respectful of her parents.

And Finally, There’s Tina Snow

Megan dropped an entire EP named after the alter ego Tina Snow in 2018, including the song “WTF I Want.”

The name is actually a reference to UGK member Pimp C’s alias Tony Snow, and Megan told Vibe that “Tina is the more pimp-ish side of me. Tina is the raw version of Megan, she just don’t give a damn.”
