Stores Open on Easter
Forgot an ingredient for Easter brunch? Dog destroyed the Easter baskets? Someone got sick? Most of us hope to be home for holidays like Easter, but no matter how well you plan, some unforeseen snags can result in an unexpected last-minute trip to the store.
On the other hand, maybe you don't celebrate Easter at all and just want to do your Sunday shopping. Either way, before you trek all the way across town, make sure you know which stores are open on Easter.
We rounded up the department stores, grocery stores, sporting goods stores, and more that stay open for Easter Sunday (plus, as an FYI, a list of those that close so their employees can enjoy the day).
Keep in mind that this is the general holiday schedule for national chains. Hours may vary by location, so you'll want to check with your local store-as well as any family-owned joints in your area.
Stores Open on Easter:
The Home Depot
All locations open; hours may vary.
Lowe's
All locations open regular hours.
Cost Plus World Market
All locations open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Walmart
Most locations open regular hours (unless the store is located in a state, city, or town that requires stores to be closed on Sundays).
Kroger
All locations open; pharmacy hours vary.
Sears
All locations open regular hours.
Kmart
All locations open regular hours.
Bass Pro Shops
Open with special hours and events depending on location (including free photos with the Easter Bunny, crafts for kids, and an old-fashioned Easter egg hunt from Saturday, March 24 through Sunday, April 1).
Cabela's
Same as Bass Pro Shops.
Build-A-Bear Workshop
On Easter weekend (and for two weekends leading up), all Build-A-Bear locations will be hosting special activities as part of its "Hop Hop Hooray" celebration. Easter Sunday hours may vary by location.
Apple
All locations open regular hours.
Godiva Boutiques
Most locations open regular hours.
Sephora
Most stores open regular hours.
Old Navy
Most freestanding locations open regular hours; for stores in malls, hours may vary.
Goodwill
Some are open (varies based on location).
PetSmart
Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Easter Sunday. But if you can, come the weekend before Easter (Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25), when the Easter Bunny will be at all North American stores. From 12 p.m.-4 p.m., get your pet's photo taken for free (and perhaps treat them to an early Easter gift)!
