Which Stores Will Be Open This Year on Christmas Day?

Nine stores are keeping their doors open on Christmas Day.

Many stores will stay closed on Christmas, leaving only a handful of stores keeping their doors open on Christmas Day. In the last couple of years, there has been a major push for retailers to close so everyone can spend quality family time together. Stores took that push to heart, giving their employees the day off, but that can make it a little trickier for those still needing a few items to make the holidays perfect. However, there are a number of 24-hour gas and convenience stores staying open to help you while you get to your loved ones' houses or with those forgotten (until the last minute) details.

Because when you need something, you need something right now...especially on Christmas!

What stores are open on Christmas 2022?

With that said, store hours and openings often vary by location, so for all of these, check with your local store to confirm their hours before heading out to shop on Christmas.

7-Eleven

“We are happy to provide customers with convenient shopping 24 hours, 7 days a week,” a company spokesperson told Parade.com about their holiday hours last year. “Store operation on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day varies by location.” 

And they will continue serving customers on Christmas 2022 this year too.

Starbucks

Christmas opening times will most likely vary by Starbucks location, as they did last year.

This was confirmed when Starbucks Stories & News released a short blurb on November 2 about their upcoming holiday schedule, which states, "This holiday season, Starbucks store hours vary by location and stores may occasionally adjust their hours based on business and customer needs. We recommend customers look for specific store hours using the Starbucks app or by visiting our website store locator: Starbucks.com/store-locator."

CVS

While many CVS Pharmacy locations will remain open on Christmas, others may be closed or operating with reduced hours. As always, it's best to call ahead and confirm Christmas hours with your local store.

Walgreens

"Most Walgreens stores will be open during regular business hours on Christmas Eve with some stores extending until midnight for any last-minute gifting essentials or healthcare needs," a company spokesperson told Parade.com in an email last year. "Most pharmacies will be open with modified hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., while 24-hour pharmacies will remain open regular hours."

On Christmas Day, most Walgreens stores will be open regular hours, the spokesperson said. Meanwhile, "24-hour Walgreens pharmacies will be open, with other select pharmacies open with modified hours and most pharmacies closed for the day."

Rite Aid

Another pharmacy-based convenience store, Rite Aid is almost always open, including this year on Christmas Day. Just check your location for hours first, some may be limited.

Wawa

Wawa is open at nearly every location 24 hours a day, and that includes Christmas Day for your last-minute travel needs too.

Albertson's

Last year, a few of the store's locations were open with limited hours. Call ahead to the closest location before heading out.

Speedway

If you are traveling over the hills and through the woods to Grandmother's house this year, you can count on this gas station chain to be open on Christmas Day.

Weigel's

Here is another 24-hour-a-day store that you can count on being open on Christmas Day. Weigel's can provide gas, ice and bakery items to get you by on Christmas.
