Fun fact: I haven’t worn jeans in a decade. If you’re currently picking your jaw up off the floor, I don’t blame you. Seriously, I’ve worn jeans so rarely that the only photographic proof of me in a pair is from 2014. I don’t technically have anything against jeans — it’s just that with my five-foot height, slim legs, and curvy hips, it’s beyond difficult to find a flattering pair that fits well. Until now, that is.

I recently tried on the Universal Standard Bae Boyfriend Crop Jeans, and it was love at first fit. The brand’s size guide was a bit confusing and overwhelming to me at first — their sample size is an 18, which converts to the brand’s size M. These jeans are incredibly size-inclusive, too, since they come in a whopping 22 different sizes, from 00 to 40. I took all of my measurements with my trusty measuring tape before choosing 18 in Broken Black (a grayish-black wash). Once they arrived, I trepidatiously removed them from the packaging and slid them up over my hips, assuming this experience would be like all the ones before it. Imagine my surprise when they not only fit, but zipped up and buttoned (without squeezing me to death). Ooh la la.

In short, they fit me perfectly. That’s thanks to a wide variety of design features, including super-soft stretch cotton denim, a zip-and-button fly, and five-pocket styling. The easy, straight leg has a subtly cropped fit that hits right at my ankles — a bit longer than on taller people, but that’s par for the course with my petite stature — so I can wear them nonstop with a variety of my favorite shoes, including ballet flats, sneakers, and heeled boots. I can even sit in them without discomfort, since the waistband doesn’t dig into my hips and waist. In addition to Broken Black, they come in 9 other colors, including chocolate brown, light blue, mustard yellow and deep indigo.

Do I need to buy these cropped jeans in every color now? My own experience with them, not to mention the dozens of five-star ratings, makes that an obvious yes. Reviewers said these jeans are “buttery soft, “cut generously,” and “so comfortable for all-day wear.” Fans especially love that “the waist fits with no gap” and that they don’t stretch out. Plus, there’s the happy shopper who said they “feel so put together” while wearing these, about which I absolutely agree.

As I sit here wearing these jeans while I type this, I have to admit I’m still in shock. I never knew I’d say I owned jeans again, but here we are. Take a cue from me and pick up a pair of the super-flattering Universal Standard Bae Boyfriend Crop Jeans for $118.
