Whatever you're doing on this fine Friday afternoon, I'd like to politely ask for your attention for a brief moment, so you can watch Chet Hanks's impersonation of the Joker. Don't think about it too hard. It's neither good or bad. It just is.

If you need some context, Chet (son of, you know, Tom) appeared on Showtime's Ziwe to talk about his hip-hop career—which once led him to dub the hot months of 2021 "White Boy Summer"—as well as answer to his various acts of cultural appropriation over the years. (Spoiler: he did not apologize in the Ziwe interview.) When Ziwe asked Hanks about his fitness app, he replied, "I don't have any plans," which somehow, reflexively, brought on a minute-long impression of Heath Ledger's Joker from The Dark Knight. Shirtless and scooting around on a yoga ball, Hanks blurted, "I'm like the Joker. Do I look like a guy... with a plan?!" From there, Hanks riffs on lines like, "Batman, you complete me!" and "My father was a drinker, and a fiend!" to an uncharacteristically flabbergasted Ziwe. I hate to inform you all that Hanks didn't put his spin on, "Wanna know how I got these scars?"
Honestly, I've gotta say—I think I prefer Chet Hanks's Joker over Jared Leto's Joker? Hanks just might have the acting gene in him yet. Maybe, if there's ever a No Way Home-style, multiversal throwdown featuring the Jokerses, Hanks can pop in for a cameo alongside Leto and Joaquin Phoenix.
