Legendary skate photographer J. Grant Brittain will be doing a book signing, slideshow, and a little Q&A at the Encinitas library this Sunday, July 30th at 1pm.

If you’ve never been to one of these events with Grant, you don’t want to miss it! He’s an encyclopedia of skate history and always reveals some hidden gems that have been hiding in his archives for decades.

Grant is easily the most widely known skate photographer in the world, from his early days at Del Mar Skate Ranch shooting young Tony Hawk, Steve Cab and countless other legends (literally all of them) to his days at Transworld and The Skateboard Mag, all the way to now. He's seen and snapped the best of the best for decades.

You can still find Grant on occasion shooting these same legends at Poods park in his hometown of Encinitas, California and at a variety of skate events from time to time. Young and old, Grant has most likely documented them.

Safe to say he also might have the most legendary skateboarding photo archive ever. There are so many hidden gems buried deep in the filing cabinets of his garage that he’s forgotten about over the years, but always stumbles upon them at the perfect time. This shot below is a great example of that.

It should be a great time at the Encinitas library on Sunday. If you're in the area, it should be a no brainer!

At the very least, stop by and see this humble lensman at work — ask him some questions, bring him a coffee, and hop in a Time Machine of sorts as he dives deep into multiple eras of skateboarding through his legendary lens.
