StockX Launches a Shopping App for the Apple Vision Pro

StockX has launched a shopping app for Apple’s spatial computer headset, the Apple Vision Pro.

The app, StockX announced Monday via statement, was designed in-house by a team of product designers and engineers the company put together in December 2023. The team, according to StockX, was tasked with creating a first-of-its-kind spatial app for its mostly Millennial and Gen Z user base.

“Nothing replaces the feeling of picking a sneaker off the shelf and holding it in your hands, but this new experience comes very close,” StockX president and chief operations officer Greg Schwartz said in a statement. “Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at StockX. We were the first to introduce stock market mechanics to the resale space, and we’re proud to be one of the first marketplaces to launch a spatial app for Apple Vision Pro. It’s everything you know and love about StockX, but in an entirely new dimension.”

In addition to the ability to buy, StockX revealed the app’s features that were designed to take advantage of the Apple Vision Pro’s 3D user interface, which includes an immersive sneaker showcase with 3D models of top releases on shelving that appears in a home-like environment. It also has StockX’s full product catalog in a browse and discovery experience, interactive market data that includes visual graphs and sales information for real-time insights, and a “shop the look” feature that allows users to browse user-generated content from customers globally in a 4K display.

“In addition to being one of the first resale marketplaces to bring spatial shopping to market, the StockX experience offers a unique balance between immersive features and our core competencies,” StockX senior director of product design Drew Moore said in a statement. “We’re incredibly proud of how this first iteration came together, and we’re already looking forward to rolling out the next phase of features and updates.”

StockX stated it plans to add selling capabilities and further personalization offerings in the near future. This includes a feature that StockX said allows its customers to shop and browse the same products as their friends using SharePlay.
