The Stila Heaven's Hue Highlighter Is the Perfect '90s Throwback

A Silly Putty-like highlighter is officially on the market. Glowing products are one of the most beloved beauty trends of 2017 so far, and Silly Putty was one of the most beloved toys of the 1990s. Considering all the '90s-themed beauty products that have made comebacks recently, it's only fitting that we now have this Silly Putty/highlighter mashup.

Although the product has been available for several months, beauty blogger Laura Lee shared a video trying out Stila Heaven's Hue Highlighter. In its case, the highlighter looks like a regular eye shadow or highlighter palette. But then, when touched, it reacts just like Silly Putty. Lee also explains to viewers that touching it feels exactly like playing with putty.

The highlighter comes in three colors: Kitten, a shimmery nude pink; Transcendence, opalescent pink; and Bronze, sun-kissed glow. Lee tried all of them, and found the formula to be highly pigmented. Her reaction to each color was over-the-top affirmation, ranging from "Oh, my God" to "I'm shook" to "This product is genius" to "This may be my new favorite highlighter." She even gave it her 100 percent seal of approval. Lee loved the highlighters so much that she started applying them all over her face — in addition to her cheekbones — on her nose, above her lip, her lower lip, etc. We've played with them here at Allure and found that they're really pretty, but not as bold as the colors seem to imply.

Lee thinks that because the highlighter is a putty and not a powder, it stays on the skin better. She said that she always applies setting spray after putting on powder highlighter, but because this was a putty, it didn't require any setting spray.

Stila Heaven's Hue Highlighter is one of many modern beauty products that seem to be inspired by a trend from our childhoods. Bath & Body Works recently released a line of bath fizzies with old-school scents; No. 21's show at Milan Fashion Week featured models wearing crystal-covered barrettes; and Flirt Cosmetics recently dropped a collection of color-changing lipsticks.
