Steve Vanderhoek Shines in 'Balance'

Steve Vanderhoek is a freerider and full-time firefighter from North Vancouver, British Columbia.

Watch him go big in his new edit “Balance” below.

In this video, Vanderhoek tees up some enormous North Shore features and tells the viewer about his life. Unlike other pro riders, Steve has a full-time job, and it is not an easy one. Working as a firefighter in a big city is an intense job that is hard not to bring home.

Balance was filmed and edited by Steve alongside his wife videographer Kelsey Toevs.

Perhaps the craziest line he rode in “Balance” is Busted Axe Wound, a huge rock roll he built that won him GoPro Line Of The Year.

Vanderhoek had a gruesome injury after a crash on Busted Axe Wound in the 2022 Tour de Gnar, so filming it is a way of reclaiming it.

Steve Vanderhoek rides for Devinci cycles.

Just this month, Vanderhoek made his first-ever trip to Virgin Utah, the Mecca of freeride. Watch him descend a steep desert chute below.
