Steve Lacy’s New Video Is a Fashion Goldmine

Even when he’s alone in his hotel room, Steve Lacy sports some truly outstanding looks. Just a few days ago, Lacy dramatically showed off his plaid Balenciaga dress in the shower. While on tour last year, he took some mirror selfies in a pair of slime green, flame-printed vinyl GmbH pants that he paired with those classic Margiela Tabi boots.

So it’s hardly a surprise that Lacy unveiled some striking new looks in the new music video for “Playground,” a song from his recently released debut album, Apollo XXI. The entire visual is really a goldmine of trippy looks that only Lacy could pull off. It starts with a Prince T-shirt in honor of one of Lacy’s biggest influences. There’s also a pair of Telfar jeans and track pant hybrid with a delicately embroidered, ruffled white Gucci top (perhaps yet another Prince reference?). Last but not least is a preppy striped Opening Ceremony x Lacoste dress that he layered over a purple and orange tie-dye long sleeve shirt. Lacy’s commitment to wearing a printed dress clearly isn’t just for goofing off in the shower—now he’s immortalized the look in his new video as well.
