Steve Harvey may be funny, but he takes his role as dad very seriously.

“The thing I’ve learned about fatherhood [is that there] ain’t no manual, ain’t no blueprint for raising your kids," Harvey once said on an episode of Sip N Smoke with Cam Newton. "They’re going to make mistakes, and you have to allot for those mistakes. Because no matter what you teach them as a parent, they one day are going to make a decision that’s completely adverse to everything you’ve ever taught them. Just stay with them...keep loving them.”

Find out more about Harvey's seven children, including the three he adopted after marrying Marjorie Harvey.

How many kids does Steve Harvey have?

Harvey is dad to seven children, including the three kids he adopted after marrying his current wife, Marjorie Harvey, in 2007: twins Karli and Brandi, sons Broderick, Wynton, and Jason, and daughters Morgan and Lori.

Who are the mothers of Steve Harvey's kids?

Marcia Harvey

Steve and Marcia married in 1981, when he was working as an insurance salesman in Ohio and still trying to break into comedy. The couple welcomed three children between 1982 and 1991—twins Karli and Brandi, and son Broderick—then separated in 1994.

In 2016, Harvey admitted to People that the day he decided to quit his job to pursue a career in entertainment was not a great one for his young family. "I’m married, I have twins. I’m supposed to provide for them, but I had to take this chance," he said.

Marcia stayed out of the public eye both during and after her marriage to the famous comedian, although she has gone on to become a published author.

Mary Shackelford

Harvey and Shackleford started seeing each another while he was in the process of divorcing his first wife. They got married in 1996 and welcomed a son, Wynton, the following year.

The relationship eventually went south, and the couple split in 2005, with their divorce proving messy for years to follow. In 2011, for example, Shackelford was admonished by a judge for making false statements about being left destitute by Steve. In 2017, Shackelford sued Harvey for $60 million. The suit was eventually dismissed.

Steve Harvey married Marjorie Harvey in 2007. The two actually met back in 1990, but Harvey was married to his first wife at the time. He later told People that Marjorie had a major impact on him. "Marjorie changed the way I existed. I'd never been in a healthy adult relationship," he said. "I'd never been loyal, I'd never been fully respected."

Marjorie and Harvey each had biological children when they met, and the pair have been open about what it took to blend their families. Marjorie told People in 2016, "When you're dealing with a blended family, everyone is coming from a place of broken...But I just told them, 'Everyone is included. Everyone has access to their parents. Whatever you didn't have before, don't let that interfere with what you can have now.'"

In 2010, Marjorie and Harvey started The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation for "under-resourced communities" together. Marjorie specifically heads the Marjorie Harvey's Girls Who Rule the World mentorship program.

Twins Karli and Brandi, now 40, were born in August 1982. At the time of their birth, Harvey was working as an insurance salesman, but he decided soon after to pursue a career in entertainment and comedy.

The decision came at a price: He and his oldest daughters drifted out of one another's lives, a fallout that Harvey later admitted weighed heavily on him. However, the trio were able to reconnect, and Harvey has gone on to become close to both of his twins.

“Years later they said to me, ‘Dad, we didn’t understand why you left us, but we know now you had to go. You didn’t just belong to us. You belonged to the world,'" Harvey told People.

In 2015, Karli married Ben Raymond, with whom she's since had a son, Benjamin Troy Raymond II, and her father walked her down the aisle.

As for Brandi, she's a frequent host on her father's "Vault Empowers" interview series and also the founder of Beyond Her, a wellness brand.

"I teach women how to break free from spiritual, mental, and emotional bondage and experience freedom, clarity, and peace like never before," Brandi says on her site. She also used to train as a bodybuilder, something she shared with a throwback photo posted to Instagram in 2018.

Broderick Harvey Jr. is the third child of Harvey and his first wife, Marcia. Like his older sisters, Broderick didn't get to grow up with Harvey. In May 2019, he told the audience of his dad's talk show, "I didn't really have my dad full-time in my life until I was 16."

Since then, Broderick's relationship with his dad has come a long way.

Broderick was part of the team at the shoe company Steps by Stephens in 2015, though it is unclear if the company is still functioning. He currently curates playlists through HarvHouse.

Wynton Harvey (July 18, 1997)

Harvey and his second wife welcomed their only son together in July 1997. Wynton has mostly kept out of the spotlight, working as a photographer based in Atlanta.

His website states, "Harvey is constantly aiming to invoke emotion, thought, or simply capture the attention of his audience. Through his precise intentionality and pristine visual stimulation, Harvey ultimately intends to expand his world alongside the world of his audience."
