The actor is reprising his role on the daytime soap opera following his exit from 'General Hospital.'

Steve Burton is returning to daytime television!

The actor is set to reprise his role as Harris Michaels in the beloved soap opera, Days of Our Lives, a year after his exit from General Hospital

While Burton recently reprised his role on the Peacock Original series spinoff, Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem, his full-time return to the original series is significant as it's where the actor made his daytime TV debut back in 1988.

Burton was previously fired from playing Jason Morgan on ABC Networks General Hospital in Nov. 2021 after he refused to comply with the production's COVID vaccine mandate. “General Hospital has let me go because of the vaccine mandate. I did apply for my medical and religious exemptions, and both of those were denied, which, you know, hurts,” he said in a video posted to his Instagram. “But this is also about personal freedom to me. I don’t think anybody should lose their livelihood over this.”

"I'll always be grateful for my time on General Hospital," he said, adding, "and when one door closes, multiple doors open."

While details about Burton's return are currently being kept under wraps, Deadline confirmed he will be appearing in new episodes starting early next year.

Days of Our Lives made the historic move from NBC to Peacock this past September. “This programming shift benefits both Peacock and NBC and is reflective of our broader strategy to utilize our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen engagement with viewers,” said Mark Lazarus, the chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming.

“With a large percentage of the Days of Our Lives audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers.”
