Stephen Huszar Movies: His 10 Best Hallmark Romances, Ranked

Stephen Huszar has had a long, illustrious career over the last two decades, but the roles we love him for most are as swoon-worthy romantic Hallmark Channel movies. Huszar's Hallmark debut came in 2011, when he had a minor role in Time After Time, but since then, he's made a name for himself on the network, cementing himself as one of our favorite leading men.

In fact, he has a new movie debuting in the Hallmark Countdown to Christmas November line-up: Navigating Christmas, premiering on November 17 at 8/7c.

Get to know Stephen Huszar

The Canadian-born, 39-year-old actor was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan, he got his start on the screen in 2004 with a role in the film The Cradle Will Fall and continued building his resume throughout the 2000s with roles in films like Caught in the Headlights (2005), Lesser Evil (2006), Dark Storm (2006) and Shock to the System (2006).

Around 2007, his career began to propel, as he began making appearances in popular television shows of the time including Paradise Falls in 2008, Smallville in 2008, Corner Gas in 2007 and 2009, Crashing In in 2011 and Fringe in 2012.

Later came more notable works and appearances, such as roles in Milton's Secret (2016), The Flash in 2017, Letterkenny between 2016 and 2019 and two episodes of Supernatural in 2014 and 2020.

Stephen Huszar's Hallmark romance come to life

Stephen Huszar gained initial recognition on the Hallmark Channel for his appearance in 2011's Time After Time, but he's since become a fixture on the network, having acted in more than 10 movies over the years — he even met his current partner, Katie Cassidy, on the set of A Royal Christmas Crush in 2023.

Jodie Sweetin stars as Jane DaSilva, a singer who inherits her family's non-profit detective agency, aiding those who aren't able to help themselves. With the help of her Aunt Sadie and Detective John Cameron (Huszar), Jane takes on investigations to bring justice and hope to those in need.

Consumer news reporter Ruby Herring (Taylor Cole) finds herself solving a murder while attending her sister's wedding at a Seattle resort, all with the help of a handsome Seattle P.D. homicide detective (Huszar) assigned to the case.

Ruby Herring is back to crime solving, as she begins receiving anonymous tips regarding the unsolved murder of a psychic. Teaming up with Detective Killian (Huszar) once again, the two put their minds together to solve this murder once and for all.

Ruby Herring and Detective Killian join forces once again to investigate a fatal yet suspicious car accident — yet Ruby believes the police may be on the wrong track.

6. Return To Christmas Creek (2018)

Tori Anderson plays Amelia, an app-developer absorbed in her career who finds herself falling short in the Christmas spirit department. Making her way back to her hometown in an effort to find the spirit that she's been lacking, she reunites with Mike (Huszar), her childhood best friend, as well as her Uncle Harry, whose rift with her father tore their family apart many years ago.

As sparks fly between she and Mike and she becomes more and more involved in what her hometown has to offer during the holiday season, Amelia begins to find the holiday spirit she's been looking for all this time.

5. A Homecoming for the Holidays (2019)

When Charlotte (Laura Osnes) first meets Matt (Huszar), she's a musician entertaining the troops and he is on his third tour with her brother. Flash forward three years, Matt is a civilian now working for Operation Homefront and Charlotte's music career has flourished.

With both of them home for the holidays, Matt and Charlotte have nurtured the spark that once was between them. When Charlotte is asked to perform a Christmas special in Nashville on the 23rd with her ex, things get dicey, as photos of them together look as though they've rekindled their old romance. Will Charlotte and Matt's relationship persevere?

4. Undercover Holiday (2022)

Noémi González stars as Jaylen Rodriguez, a pop-star whose rapid rise to fame has resulted in her receiving concerning fan mail from a "secret admirer" ahead of her debut tour and Christmas celebrations back home with her family. Her team insists that round-the-clock security is a new necessity for her, but she worries about upsetting and alarming her family upon returning home.

To remedy this, she pretends Matt (Huzsar), her new, ex-Navy SEAL bodyguard, is her boyfriend. Her family is ecstatic, but Jaylen and Matt butt heads over the course of their time together. However, as time goes on, they begin to ease up, bonding over the secret they share and the Christmas traditions of her family — making the line between bodyguard and boyfriend less and less defined.

3. Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas (2020)

Five guests receive special, mysterious invitations to spend their Christmas at the Snowfall Inn. Soon, they discover that their invitations didn't come from who they had initially thought, and instead, are befuddled by the fact that each invitation came in an unmarked red envelope. Sarah (Lacey Chabert), who is back home to settle her mother's affairs and believes the trip was a gift from her law firm, teams up with Ben (Huszar), the inn's owner, to uncover the connection between she and the other invitees — and sparks start flying.

2. Love in Glacier National: A National Park Romance (2023)

Heather (Ashley Newbrough) is a climatologist who has developed an avalanche forecasting
technology to protect people on the mountains. When Glacier National Park hears of her developments, they want her to come install her equipment and teach it to their Mountain Rescue Team.

Chris (Huzsar) is the director of Mountain Rescue and feels his real world experience trumps Heather's science and data. While he's skeptical at first, Chris comes to realize that the two ultimately have the same goal: to keep people safe on the mountains. When sparks start to fly between them, Chris sets out on a dangerous rescue mission — and Heather must convince him to trust her technology to lead him back to safety — and back to her.

1. A Royal Christmas Crush (2023)

Topping our list of Stephen Huszar movies is the film where he met his real-life love Katie Cassidy. Ava Jensen (played by Cassidy) is an architect who, with her Uncle Karl, travels to the frozen kingdom of Fríðrland to construct an ice castle for the royal family ahead of their annual Royal Christmas Ball. It's there where she meets Prince Henry (Huszar), the heir to the throne who enlists her help with his big speech. As the two spend more time together, things start to heat up between them — despite the cold.

“We obviously [were] professional and kept it that way," Cassidy told UsWeekly of the romance that blossomed between she and Huszar while filming the movie. "However, I felt as though it’s almost like there was this layer because he and I kind of knew this secret thing that nobody else knew,” she said. “And we could let our guard down when our characters were supposed to and allow space to fall into one another. I almost feel like that added a certain type of element to it. We just couldn’t help it.”

Bonus: Navigating Christmas (airs November 17, 2023!)

Chelsea Hobbs stars as Melanie, a divorcee who takes her teenage son Jason to a remote island for Christmas when his dad cancels the snowboarding trip they had planned at the last minute. It's on this island where she meets Peter (Huszar), the curt owner of the local lighthouse, for which Melanie booked an immersive experience for her and her son. Peter begins to form a bond not only with Melanie's son, but also with Melanie.
