Stephanie Phair Named Chairman of the British Fashion Council
Farfetch’s chief strategy officer will be the new head of British fashion’s governing body.

Farfetch’s chief strategy officer, Stephanie Phair, has been named the chairman of the British Fashion Council. Phair has had a long career in fashion, starting in Vogue’s communications department in New York. In 2008 she joined Net-a-Porter’s executive board, later becoming president of The Outnet. She returned to her native England in 2016 to assume her current position at Farfetch. As chairman of the BFC, Phair will not only act as the public face of British fashion’s governing body, but will also play a role in organizing and innovating London Fashion Week, the Fashion Awards, and the BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards.

“I am honored and delighted to take on the role of chairman. The British Fashion Council is in a strong position following the incredible work of Dame Natalie Massenet, Caroline Rush, and the team, and my role will be to build on this and help drive continued innovation and new thinking in this fast-paced, changing industry,” said Phair in a release. “I look forward to working with the team at the BFC to engage with and support all the talented designers and teams working for British fashion today.”

Phair assumes the role of chairman from Massenet, who oversaw the BFC for five years. Massenet and Phair worked together at Net-a-Porter and currently work at Farfetch, where Massenet is cochairman.
