Steph Plans to Wear This Unexpected Shimmery Red Lipstick From Now Through Fall
Nars knows how to make a damn good lip color.
Nars knows how to make a damn good lip color. That's not some kind of new revelation or anything, but I'm just here to say that if you thought it the first time you got your makeup done at a department store beauty counter as a teen, it still holds true. For the brand's 25th anniversary, it relaunched its entire lipstick line with 70 shades (including the 12 original ones it debuted with decades ago) and an updated formula.
After getting over my initial "if it ain't broke" confusion, I actually tried the new formula, and can attest that it's truly great. The satin-finish version goes on smoothly and creates a cushiony, soft swath of pigment that has impressive staying power, but doesn't feel dry at all. My go-to shade for the moment — and for the foreseeable future, as I am confident it's the ideal fall hue — is Dressed to Kill, a brick red flecked with gold shimmer.
It's an unexpected and surprisingly versatile shade, and I've taken to wearing it anytime I want a little color and drama. I could also see wearing it to dress up my look for one of the weddings I'll be attending in the fall, and I love that the satin-finish formula stays put (on lips, not teeth!) for hours on end without creating that dry, shriveled effect some lesser lip colors may cause.
