Step Inside an Austin Home That Pairs Cozy Neutrals With Loads of Art

If you are a sucker for warm neutrals, perfectly edited closets and the best vintage rugs, get ready to fall head over heels in 3, 2, 1. Anastasia Casey is not only the Founder and Creative Director of The Identité Collective, but she is also an interior design mastermind. Evidence below! Step inside her crazy cool Austin home captured by Madeline Harper and just try to pick a favorite vignette. It's impossible.

From Anastasia...When we bought the house, the walls were mocha frappachino color (ceiling too) and the guest room was blood red. We painted everything white to let the dark floors really shine. The natural light in the house really is as bright as it looks, and I wanted to focus on that.

I’d say my style definitely has mid-century vibes but in a minimal, natural way. I wanted things to be neutral so I could let our art collection shine through. I used lots of woven grasses and jute paired with honed marble to juxtapose each other.

My art collection has really been my pride and joy in this house. So much of it is from the 40’s in Paris while my grandmother was working for the government there. Small oil painting I’ve picked up on my travels with photographs from our honeymoon + other vacations layer to make such a sweet sentiment.

I also love the line illustrations from Hannah Robinson Design in the family room - they’re so minimal and striking. I feel so lucky to have such talented friends. My favorite accessories came from my grandma, too. Hand carved olive wood bowls from Italy, the antique dough bowl in on the family room table, even the Turkish towel thrown over the chaise in the living room. We were incredibly close and even though she never got to see us buy our first house, I know she’s watching us here every day.

Our set of mid-century folding chairs were $100 on Facebook market place. They’re the focal point of the entire first floor and everyone always wants to know where they came from.

The months after buying the chairs, I stumbled upon the matching foot stool at the Alameda Antique Fair for $12. They were a perfect match when I brought it home. Stories like that make our house feel special.

All our Turkish rugs are from The Southern Loom. She sources the BEST 18th + 19th century pieces at great prices. I love the way the entryway art project came together, too. The builder-basic house had one of those awful “niches” in the wall that we didn’t have the budget or patience to remedy. So I hung wooden cones on twine from cup hooks and now it feels like a real art installation.

My favorite spaces are the living room downstairs and the office/closet. Downstairs feels so bright, airy and inviting. It’s such a pleasure to spend time down there with warm sun coming in through the 10 foot windows.

Upstairs, the new closet/office space is my new favorite! I love being able to enjoy my wardrobe and use an otherwise wasted sitting area of our bedroom in a productive way.
