A free Stellar Blade demo will be released for PS5 on March 29, 2024, developer Shift Up and publisher Sony have announced.

“The demo takes place from the very beginning of the game when Eve, a member of the 7th Airborne Squad, is sent to Earth on a mission to reclaim the planet from the Naytiba, up to the first boss fight,” game director Kim Hyung-tae revealed. “This first stage will include the tutorial phase to help you familiarize yourself with basic combat features as you explore post-war Eidos 7, a human city now infested by the Naytiba, giving you an early grasp of gameplay mechanics that will serve you throughout the game’s story.”

He added that there would be “a little surprise” for players completing the first stage. In addition, anyone making it to the last checkpoint can carry over their save game into the release version, as long as the save data is stored locally on their PS5.

“From the smooth 60 FPS combat to the haptics you’ll feel through the DualSense wireless controller, there are various charms of the game that you can only confidently appreciate through hands-on experience,” Kim explained.

Stellar Blade is the first triple-A game developed by the South Korean studio, which is mostly known for its popular gacha games such as Nikke: Goddess of Victory.
