Would You Stay in This Romantic School Bus in the Forest?
When you think of a romantic getaway, beautiful surroundings and seclusion probably come to mind. How about... a school bus? Well, that might not sound so crazy now, thanks to this cozy converted bus tucked away in a forest.
Nestled in the pines of North Carolina, the bus in question sits on the crest of a ridge overlooking the Black Mountains. It’s part of Sparkleback Farm, a small-scale organic farm and homestead. With a plush full size bed, a sink, towels, electricity, bed sheets, and eating area, it has all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Lined with windows like a typical school bus, the camper gets lots of natural light. The main bath house is a 30 second walk across the lawn. Immersed in nature, the shower (with hot water!) and the composting toilets have a beautiful view of the mountains.
While the bus is secluded, it’s not isolated. Just 15 minutes from downtown Asheville, its within driving distance of plenty of gorgeous sights. You can tour the historic Biltmore Estate, for one, or stroll through 65 acres of gardens in the North Carolina Arboretum.
By staying in this cozy bus, you’ll also be helping local artists. According to the Airbnb listing, funds generated from guests will be used to sponsor an artist residency that provides a safe, inspiring retreat for LGBTQ southerners and people of color.
