Station 19

Since premiering in 2018, Station 19, the firefighter spinoff to the long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, has logged top ratings for ABC, second only to its predecessor. But, alas, all good things must come to an end. Deadline reports that the show is wrapping after its seventh season. The decision comes early enough in the season's production—which resumed after the wrap-up of the dual Hollywood strikes—to allow its creative team to deliver a proper ending to the series.

Read on for more about Station 19 Season 7, including who is in the cast and when the show will return.

Is there a Station 19 Season 7?

Yes. Season 7 will consist of 10 episodes, with a renewal announced back in April. The show will reach its 100th episode milestone prior to its conclusion.

Has Station 19 been canceled?

The show hasn't been canceled in the sense that it's been pulled off the air without a proper ending, but ABC has indeed decided not to continue the show beyond its upcoming seventh season. Thankfully, the early decision allows writers and producers enough time to a deliver a satisfactory ending for fans.

What is the release date for Station 19 Season 7?

Station 19 Season 7 will premiere on March 14 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

How did Station 19 Season 6 end?

Per Station 19’s Season 6 finale logline, the crew “trade in their turnouts for tuxes and gowns as they attend the Firefighters Ball; but when disaster strikes, they jump into action to save the day.”

Major spoiler alert: Disaster envelops the ball even prior to a fire breaking out, which claims the life of former fire chief (and the show’s primary antagonist) Dixon (Pat Healy) and leaves Gibson’s (Grey Damon) on the line. During the episode, fire chief Natasha Ross (Merle Dandridge) informs Andy (Jaina Lee Ortiz) of her new captain-hood, which angers both Ruiz (Carlos Miranda) and Sullivan (Boris Kodjoe), whose relationships with Vic and the chief falter. After the ceiling collapses and some of the crew fall in, Sullivan revives Ross. However, Ruiz’s breakup with Vic (Barrett Doss) leads to him making out with newcomer Kate (Kiele Sanchez). Meanwhile, a pregnant waitress named Nanette undergoes an emergency delivery of her child.

What will happen in Station 19 Season 7?

While details of the forthcoming season have yet to be released, audiences can assume that the drama will pick up with the various cliffhangers left in Season 6’s finale. These include whether Gibson will make it following his collapse at the Firefighters Ball, how Andy will handle being the new captain and the status of Vic and Ruiz’s breakup.

Because the first responder procedural will transition to a 10 p.m. ET time slot on Thursdays, from its original 8 p.m., Deadline reports that the drama—which frequently saw crossovers with the mothership—will be less dependent on Grey’s for its storylines, with only one planned crossover to come.
