Welcome to the Love Hotline! Drag queens Jujubee and Thorgy Thor are answering your burning questions about navigating the world of dating. Whether it be over video chat or good old-fashioned letters, your two favorite queens have got you covered with their entertaining “expert” advice!
First-time caller Carlos dials into the Love Hotline, to seek advice on how to move forward after a tough breakup. Hosts Thorgy Thor (@thorgythor) and Jujubee (@jujubeeonline) help Carlos out by stressing the importance of loving yourself, and embracing the single life!
Carlos, 19, shares that he has recently gone through a bad breakup from a long relationship during which he “put the other person first.” Carlos is wondering how he can find comfort in loving himself and being single again.
“I think the answer is in your question,” says Jujubee. “Now you gotta put yourself first, and maybe discover things about yourself that you didn’t have when you were in a relationship.”
Thorgy jumps in to double down on her cohost’s advice.
“You know what you want to hear,” says Thorgy. “You need to work on yourself.”
Jujubee adds that it’s important for Carlos to realize that he’s “still growing,” and that he’s going to “learn to find love in many different places,” and “loving yourself first” is one of the best types of love that someone can experience.
While the hosts both think Carlos should look ahead, they reassure him not to lose confidence in how he handled his past relationship.
“Moving forward in the next relationship, you can still give something to someone else,” says Thorgy. “You just have to take time for yourself because obviously, it bothered you.”
Carlos, who is living in California attending school for musical theater, shares that he wants to make horror movies in the future. Thorgy takes the opportunity to offer her services as a horror makeup artist, while Jujubee requests a starring role as a monster in Carlos’ next film.
There’s nothing scary about some good love advice, so Carlos enthusiastically thanks the hosts and draws the curtains on the call. Jujubee sums up the conversation by referring to herself and Thorgy as “two aunties that just bullied [Carlos] into no longer dating.”
The episode ends with some fan mail, where the hosts casually debate whether 18 years old is too young to get married, and some great points were made for both sides.
