Stars Gather for a Charitable Auction at the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women Dinner

The Kering Foundation held its second annual Caring for Women dinner in New York City last night, bringing together longtime supporters and new friends—including Florence and the Machine’s Florence Welch, who performed at the dinner.

A fundraiser for NGOs addressing violence against women, the event included a live auction—led by the iconic Lydia Fenet—with items and experiences from Kering, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Brioni, Pomellato, Ginori, and others, as well as original artworks from Emily Yang (pplpleasr), Wangechi Mutu, and Cindy Sherman.

Held at the Pool in Manhattan, the dinner was hosted by award-winning journalist Lisa Ling and co-chaired by Salma Hayek Pinault and husband François-Henri Pinault (chairman and CEO of Kering), Zoë Kravitz, Cindy Sherman, Christy Turlington Burns, Olivia Wilde, Oprah Winfrey, and Malala Yousafzai.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit three NGOs committed to stopping gender-based violence: the Malala Fund, the National Network to End Domestic Violence, and the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault.

Worldwide, one in three women is or will be a victim of violence during her lifetime. Since 2008, the Kering Foundations has been supporting programs to address the origins of gender-based violence in order to break the intergenerational cycle of abuse. To maximize its impact, the foundation works with various partners in France, Italy, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Korea to provide tailored services to women survivors, and to help engage youth, early on, to promote gender equality.
