Starbucks Is Reportedly Scaling Back Their Fancy Drinks

Great, there goes my summer Instagram aesthetic.

There's some bad news for Starbucks fans who have been craving that Unicorn Frappuccino or wishing for their chance to peer into a Crystal Ball (Frappuccino, that is). The coffee chain is reportedly making some major changes to its future menu offerings, and those 'grammable fancy frapps could be on the way out.

According to a report from Grub Street, the company intends to cut the number of special drink options by 30 percent. The news was reportedly shared with investors during a company call. The decision was reportedly made in response to a lackluster sales quarter for the brand, and Grub Street points out that the chain also will put an end to their Frappuccino Happy Hour.

The announcement isn't all bad for fans of all things Frappuccino though. The call with investors included news of a new Frappuccino flavor set to debut soon. And while there's no word on whether this one will include any mermaid or zombie inspiration, the flavor will debut just in time for your summer vacation coffee runs.

Starbucks also shared that they do intend to jazz up their other drink offerings. During the company telephone call, Starbucks' COO Rosalind Brewer reportedly said they'll be keeping a closer eye on their cold brew and teas, as well as an expansion of their lunch menu. What these new changes means for our future Starbucks runs remains to be seen, but if the creativity of their newly introduced Cold Foam line is any indication, fans are definitely in for a sweet treat. And if you really start to miss your Unicorn Frappuccino, you can always enjoy the drink in candle form.
