Starbucks Dropped The Return Date For Pumpkin Spice & It’s Happening SOON

Rumors swirled surrounding the release date of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, and today’s the day. Starbucks’ most popular seasonal drink is back for its 20th year, along with the fall menu.

Last year, the much-loved beverage hit shops on August 30, which makes this one of the earliest (if not the earliest) PSL release from Starbucks ever. But the company isn’t the first to embrace an early fall menu—Dunkin’ and Krispy Kreme already launched their pumpkin-flavored drinks.

Since 2003, the hundreds of millions of Pumpkin Spice Lattes have been created, but the recipe has only changed once. Back in 2015 Starbucks started using real pumpkin puree and removed artificial flavors.

"You go back 20 years ago, there was nothing like this out in the marketplace," said Peter Dukes, one of the original creators of the PSL. "And then it just kind of took off from there to where it is today and obviously, a new industry was created along the way."

While we don’t blame you for rushing out to grab your first PSL of the season, make sure to check out the rest of the Starbucks fall menu, which includes the return of the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato, Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin, and Owl Cake Pop. New items include the Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai tea Latte, Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, and the Baked Apple Croissant.

And to celebrate the anniversary of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, Starbucks Reserve stores are getting pumpkin spice-flavored menu items too.

Happy sipping!
