Starbucks Will Have Oat Milk In Stores Across The U.S. Starting This Week

From Delish

Update, March 1, 2021: The day has finally (almost!) come! Starbucks announced today that it will be rolling out Oatly oat milk nationwide starting this week and we couldn't be more amped.

The chain made the announcement alongside a new iced drink called the Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso (and the return of the Honey Oatmilk Latte, which was previously available in some regions but will now be available nationwide for the first time).

Starbucks said oat milk had a strong performance when it was tested across the Midwest and California, so now the chain will be offering the milk alternative nationally starting tomorrow, March 2. This is the fourth non-dairy milk alternative available in Starbucks stores in the U.S.

Original, December 9, 2020: Big news for plant-based milk fans: Starbucks announced today that it will be rolling out oat milk as an alternative milk option across the U.S. starting next year.

While oat milk has been available regionally at Starbucks stores in the U.S., it will be available nationally for the first time from the chain in spring 2021. The company did not initially share an exact date for the upcoming roll-out, so keep your eyes peeled.

This has been a highly anticipated announcement as oat milk has gained massive popularity as an alternative milk option in recent years. The buzzy plant-based milk will join the chain's existing non-dairy options (such as almond and soy milks), plant-based food options (such as the Impossible Breakfast Sandwich), and non-dairy creamers. In a notice about the upcoming oat milk release, Starbucks cited a report by The Good Food Institute that states customer interest in plant-based foods has grown 29 percent over the past two years.

The company made the oat milk announcement during its biennial Investor Day where the company also discussed the strides it's making in an effort to creating a "Planet Positive future." Starbucks went on to share additional updates in its sustainability plans including formalizing its 2030 environmental goals to cut its carbon, water, and waste footprints by half, and increasing its Global Farmer Fund to $100 million, which is an additional $50 million investment. They also announced next-generation on-site solar stores.
