Starbucks customers dumbfounded by ‘ridiculous’ money-saving order hack: ‘I hope they don’t see this’

Another day, another Starbucks menu hack going viral on TikTok — and this one involves one of the chain’s most popular drinks.

Over the past few months, TikTok users have swarmed to the app with their menu hacks and secret drink orders — from Pokémon-themed beverages to tips for keeping your order under $4.

This one feels different, though, because it claims to offer a money-saving version of one of Starbucks’ trendiest menu items: The Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso.

The sugary, caffeine-loaded drink is a newcomer to the menu, but it’s already sparked a frenzy on social media. Even ITK editor Katie Mather, who famously dislikes most new Starbucks drinks, couldn’t resist praising it in her review.

In fact, the only knock on the drink seems to be its price. The new Starbucks menu hack, from user @xoxokatiejo, aims to fix that.

“I’m gonna let y’all onto a little hack I learned recently,” the TikToker says at the start of her clip.

In the video, @xoxokatiejo shows TikTokers how to order the Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso — which typically costs close to $6 — for almost half the price. Basically, the hack involves requesting each part of the drink as an add-on.

As the TikToker explains, you can mock up the trendy drink by ordering a grande-sized iced espresso, then adding extra ice and a splash of oat milk. Next, you can increase your espresso to three shots and add three pumps of brown sugar syrup. The final touch: Requesting a sprinkle of cinnamon powder on top.

The order ultimately costs $3.69 in @xoxokatiejo’s Starbucks app, versus $5.83 for the real thing.

Despite the savings, TikTok users were divided over the hack. Some users were already swearing by it.

“Highly recommend doing this,” one user, who claimed to be a Starbucks barista, wrote.

“I hope they don’t find out,” another user added.

Others, however, called the trick “ridiculous” and said it was too much work for the payoff.

“It’s not the same drink,” one user wrote.

“But will the baristas hate me for this?” another asked.

Unfortunately for Starbucks fans, there’s only one way to find out the answer to that last question.
