It's a great day for Starbucks fans.

If Starbucks’ New Year’s Resolutions were to bring a fan-fave latte back to its stores and to encourage its customers to bring their own cups, then its January is already off to a strong start. Starting today, Wednesday, January 3, the Seattle-based coffee giant has a new winter menu — and its baristas will also fill your personal reusable cup with any of your go-to beverages.

The new Winter Menu includes one new drink, two returning favorites, two new breakfast items, and a permanent spot on the menu for one of its sweet-and-savory sandwiches.

The Iced Hazelnut Oatmilk Shaken Espresso is the beverage that’s making its Starbucks debut today, and it’s a well-shaken combo of hazelnut syrup, plant-based oat milk, and espresso. “Hazelnut is a classic coffeehouse flavor – its smooth, nutty taste is perfectly complemented by the candied apple and bittersweet chocolate notes of Starbucks Blonde Espresso,” Billy Altieri, Starbucks’ beverage developer, said in a statement. “The oatmilk adds a creamy and luscious texture to round out the Iced Hazelnut Oatmilk Shaken Espresso.”

This is also a big day for pistachio lovers, because the Pistachio Latte is back … at least for a limited time. The much-loved drink (and its equally loved brown-buttery topping) is available hot, iced, or Frappuccino style. Starbucks has also temporarily returned the Pistachio Cream Cold Brew to its stores.

On the food side, Starbucks is launching a new Potato, Cheddar, and Chive Bake, made with cage-free eggs, diced potatoes, spinach, and cheddar cheese. “When creating the Potato, Cheddar & Chive Bakes, we wanted to provide customers with a high-protein vegetarian option for their morning,” Starbucks beverage development team member Freshta Khosravi said. “The savory combination of diced potatoes, cheese, spinach, chives, and eggs offers 12g of protein [...] for a comforting breakfast on the go.”

The chain has also added a new sweet treat, a Vanilla Bean Custard Danish, for a limited time, while the Chicken, Maple Butter, and Egg Sandwich is now part of the permanent menu.

And, yes, starting today, Starbucks customers can now bring their own clean personal cup to Starbucks, and it can be filled with your fave beverage whether you’re ordering in-store, through the Starbucks app, or at the drive-thru. Starbucks says that the Bring Your Own Cup option is available for any size drink, and for any beverage format, whether you opt for hot, iced, or blended.

According to the company, in-store and drive-thru customers will just need to let the barista know that they’ve brought their own cup at the time of their order (and coffee lovers who opt to stay and enjoy their drinks in the cafe, can ask for a reusable ceramic or glass cup). Drive-thru customers will place their cups, tumblers, or mugs into a “contactless vessel” at the pick-up window, and it will be filled and returned the same way.

On the app, customers will need to hit the “Customization” button before beginning their orders and select “Personal Cup” from the menu. Then, upon arriving at the store, they’ll give their cup to the barista, and it will be filled and returned through that same clean “contactless vessel.”

This whole BYOC thing is part of Starbucks’ ongoing goal to reduce its cup waste by 50% by 2030, and customers who do bring their own cups will receive a $0.10 discount on their drinks, while Starbucks Rewards members will earn 25 bonus stars.

“At Starbucks, we envision a future where every beverage can be served in a reusable cup,” Michael Kobori, Starbucks chief sustainability officer, said in a statement. “Offering customers more options to use a personal cup when they visit Starbucks marks tangible progress towards the future. We know our customers are passionate about the planet, and now, they can join us in our efforts to give more than we take, no matter how they order.”

We’re pretty sure that Pistachio Latte will taste EVEN BETTER in our own cup anyway.
