Starbucks' New Iced Caramel Cloud Macchiato Is The Creamiest Thing You've Ever Tasted

Forget whatever Punxsutawney Phil said-spring is here, accroding to Starbucks. They're dropping their new seasonal drinks TODAY (!!), and they've got Ariana Grande on their side. After both Starbucks and Ariana teased clouds and coffee on Twitter Monday, the Cloud Macchiato is officially here. More accurately, two versions of the creamy, sweet drink are here: The Caramel Cloud Macchiato and the Cinnamon Cloud Macchiato.

Both drinks taste extremely fluffy thanks to a meringue-like cloud texture on top made of milk foam. Below the foam sits two espresso shots; on top of the caramel drink there's a crosshatch drizzle of caramel sauce (it's made for the 'gram). The drinks come with Starbucks' strawless lid, so the first sip you get is the sweet, vanilla foam mixed with caramel syrup.

The cinnamon drink uses a lemon cinnamon syrup, which sounds like a weird flavor combination, but tastes excellent. If you've ever had Dutch babies or Beaver Tails with cinnamon sugar and lemon, you'll recognize the taste. If not, it's worth a try! It has cinnamon sprinkled on top, too.

Both drinks can be ordered hot or iced, but if you care about seeing the pretty layering, you're better off going iced. Luckily, you've got plenty of time to try 'em both ways, as they're being added to the permanent menu. For fans of the original caramel macchiato, fear not-the new Cloud drink will live alongside the classic, so you can order either one.

Starbucks representatives told Delish the drink has been in the works since last spring, around the time the Cold Brew with Cascara Cold Foam for the spring came out. That drink is returning to stores for spring, along with a brand new Lemon Cake Pop that tastes like a cross between Starbucks' iced lemon pound cake and Lemonade Girl Scout Cookies.

As for Ariana? A spokesperson for Starbucks said this: "We’ve long been fans of Ariana Grande’s and were excited to work with her and celebrate our shared love of clouds."
