Starbucks Announces Pumpkin Spice Latte Release Date

Mourning the end of beach season is no doubt difficult, but Starbucks is hoping its latest news will make things more bearable (or at least, more delicious). The company announced Tuesday that the Pumpkin Spice Latte will be available nationwide on August 28 — yes, PSL season is already upon us, despite traditionally not being sold until September 1 or later. (Sorry, summer, but you're so last season.)

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the iconic drink, which means we've all been enjoying pumpkin spice puns for an entire decade and a half. What was originally just a hot drink has now transformed into a cultural movement, inspiring everything from makeup palettes to Oreo flavors to a freakin' deodorant scent. To show just how far we've come since the PSL days of yore, Starbucks will now be offering Iced Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Blended Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes topped with cold foam according to a press release — as well as an endless number of other customization options. You can even get a "Spice Cookie Straw" to drink your Pumpkin Spice Latte out of this year, transforming it from a morning drink into an extra AF dessert.

For anyone who can barely wait out the week until they can get their hands on the foamy fall beverage, Starbucks recently created a Facebook Support Group (yes, actually) for people who really, really love PSLs. Called the Leaf Rakers Society, the group is meant to celebrate all things autumnal. "This is a safe place for a) pumpkins b) year-round scarf-wearers c) those who would rather work on their Halloween costume than their tan d) members of the Great Pumpkinwatch 2017 Facebook Group," the group explained in its description. "This group serves as a forum where we constructively work together with Mother Nature to help Autumn arrive earlier in the calendar year. Maybe we get rid of August, or something?"
