May is officially here, and while for some, that means we are getting seriously close to summer, for Star Wars fans, it means May the 4th is right around the corner. There are plenty of ways fans can celebrate their love for the legendary franchise, from picking up a new Star Wars Lego set to doing a big rewatch of the movies. And while we wholeheartedly support both options, there is a third—perhaps bolder—one to consider: Ordering the brand new, super spicy Star Wars-themed hot sauce.

That’s right: Truff—the brand behind the decadent truffle-infused hot sauces Oprah has named to her Favorite Things list for the last three years—just dropped a new hot sauce with some serious Star Wars flair. Truff’s Dark Side Hot Sauce is nothing to play with, given it’s now the brand’s spiciest sauce, featuring the hot-as-Hades ghost pepper.

Yes, the ghost pepper is certainly quite hot, topping out at over 1 million Scoville Units. That said, it isn’t the hottest. That title only recently belongs to Pepper X, which reaches more than double the ghost pepper’s 1+ million Scoville Units. According to Britannica, though, less than 20 years ago, the ghost pepper actually was the fieriest, most fearsome of them all. But just because there’s one hotter out there now doesn’t mean ghost peppers aren’t still fierce, as you’ll find out when you crack open this hot sauce.

As someone who has been applying many of Truff’s hot sauces to my pasta, eggs, tacos, and more for years, I can safely report that this is, indeed, the spiciest hot sauce I've ever tried from the brand. This is not a slow-burn kind of situation; it’s pretty immediately potent, kicking you right in the back of the throat. But it’s not just straight-up hot. As with other Truff hot sauces, it has that earthy truffle (in this case, black truffle) flavor that gives it some depth. Plus, the creaminess of the hot sauce keeps it from being a full-on attack on your tongue and throat.

It only makes sense that Truff’s most sinister hot sauce to date is one that dawns Darth Vader’s helmet as its cap. The bottle is a slick matte black with a smoky gray effect on the bottom of the label. And though the new hot sauce is $40 on the brand’s website and Amazon, for Star Wars diehards, it’s worth it since you’ll get the bottle of hot sauce delivered to you in a cool Star Wars-branded case with the Imperial Crest donning both sides.
