'Star Wars' Fans, Here's the Truth About Hayden Christensen’s Role in ‘Ahsoka’

Well, Star Wars fans, a brand-new show is officially on our horizons. Ahsoka is the latest series to come out of the franchise, and a beloved character will officially take centerstage.

Viewers first met young Ahsoka Tano in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, when she was a Jedi Padawan under the mentorship of Anakin Skywalker (before he became the evil Darth Vader). After seven seasons, an adult Ahsoka was thrust into a live-action storyline in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett (portrayed by Rosario Dawson), there to bring Grogu to Luke Skywalker for his own Jedi training. Although folks got a quick view at what she made of her life after the Clone Wars, many were curious about what became of her bond with Anakin as she reached adulthood.

Dedicated fans may know Hayden Christensen played Anakin in the prequel trilogy of the Star Wars films, along with appearing in Obi-Wan Kenobi. But since Ahsoka displays moments of how the titular character came to be, it leads people to wonder whether Anakin — and subsequently, Hayden — will make an appearance. Luckily, there may be an answer, thanks to two major clues dropped ahead of Ahsoka's TV premiere.

Is Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka?

While Disney hasn't explicitly confirmed Hayden will return as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka, there are already a few major hints in regard to his appearance.

The first clue fans have about Anakin's reprisal comes from a teaser trailer released in mid-August. As the clip shows pieces of Ahsoka's journey throughout the course of the series, and viewers can hear Anakin give an inspirational speech to his former apprentice.

"In this war, you will face more than just droids," he says in a voiceover. "As your master, it's my responsibility to prepare you. I will always be there to look out for you. Don't be afraid and trust your instincts. I know you can do this, Ahsoka."

Despite hearing Anakin for the first time since Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's hard to determine if the character will show up as himself or as Darth Vader in Ahsoka. But it's unlikely he'll appear in his Dark Side form, as The Book of Boba Fett confirmed that adult Ahsoka is in communication with Luke Skywalker after the fall of the Empire.

What's more, it seems like Disney hinted at Ahsoka and Anakin's reunion in an upcoming special for Disney+. In a report from ComicBook.com, Master and Apprentice: A Special Look at Ahsoka will air on the streaming platform on September 15, potentially showing a behind-the-scenes look at the duo's relationship.

As the special is set to drop after the premiere of Ahsoka episode 5, which airs on September 12, it's plausible to think fans will see Anakin onscreen just before we get a backstage glimpse of filming the series.

If the voiceover and special announcement confirms anything, it's possible we'll get to see some iteration of Ahsoka and Anakin onscreen together. And if that's the case, we'll be holding our breaths until we witness that moment.
