The Star-Studded 'Amsterdam' Features Margot Robbie, Taylor Swift, and Many More

While not affiliated with Knives Out in any official sense, David O. Russell’s highly anticipated film Amsterdam might well be a spiritual cousin of the star-studded murder mystery. Like Rian Johnson’s 2019 hit, Amsterdam features an A-list ensemble cast; marries the serious with the eccentric, tonally; and centers around a mysterious death, which makes way for much bigger—and more startling—revelations. Margot Robbie, John David Washington, and Christian Bale star as the leading trio: a nurse, an attorney, and a doctor bonded by a deep friendship and a shared accusation of murder. An odd throuple for our times, indeed. Here’s what else we know so far.

What is Amsterdam about?

The story is billed as “an original crime epic about three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. What exactly that entails remains to be seen, but a rough outline of the film is present in the trailer, which depicts Robbie, Washington and Bale fighting to clear their names after they’re accused of putting “a dead white man in a box.”
