Stanley Tucci Is Bringing Pastina Back

It's only right that the Searching for Italy host is the one to reintroduce this beloved pasta staple into our pantries (and hearts).

Pastina, a tiny star-shaped pasta, has been part of Italian and American comfort dishes for generations—and for those passionate about the pantry staple, the world ended earlier this year when popular pasta brand Ronzini announced they would be discontinuing their pastina. Replacements have been hard to come by in the U.S., but fortunately, Stanley Tucci and S. Pellegrino paired up to feed us what we've been missing.

If you don't already follow Stanley Tucci’s culinary adventures, you’d likely recognize him from his iconic acting roles. In 2021, his love of filmmaking turned to focus on food with his show Searching for Italy, where he travels across Italy to highlight the best (and most underground) dishes in the country. He’s also released recipes to the delight of foodies everywhere—his viral pasta dishes in particular have turned him into somewhat of a celebrity chef.

S. Pellegrino

Now, Tucci has combined forces with S. Pellegrino to save pastina lovers’ pantries all across the U.S. The collaboration released a limited-edition recipe kit that shares two of Tucci’s classic holiday recipes and all the ingredients you need to make them yourself.

“I had so much fun sharing a taste of my family’s recipes with S.Pellegrino last year that we’re doing it again—but this time, fans will get two dishes inspired by one beloved pasta shape that’s a staple in my kitchen all winter long,” Tucci said in a press release.

The two dishes include a comforting chicken soup with chicken meatballs and Tucci’s Pastina Classica: a rich, creamy spin on the traditional star-shaped dish. Along with step-by-step recipes and plenty of pastina, the recipe kit includes high-quality Italian food products and even a bottle of S. Pellegrino.

This is the second year Tucci will be releasing a recipe kit collaboration with S. Pellegrino, and it’s bound to sell out quickly due to the number of home chefs missing their beloved pastina. If you want to reach for the stars this holiday season and get your hands on a recipe kit, be ready to hit up the WorldChef website on November 1.

You can order the kit online for $89, and the price includes 2-day cold shipping so your items arrive fast and stay fresh. WorldChef will restock them on November 8, 15, and 27 before they’re gone for good.
