Have the Jacob Elordi and Austin Butler stans tried giving peace a chance yet? Fandoms for the two actors are up in arms on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter) over which one’s portrayal of Elvis Presley reigns supreme.

Butler’s stint as the King of Rock and Roll came first, delectably delivered in Baz Luhrmann’s award-winning Elvis, an epic biopic released last year. Elordi plays a darker version of the iconic singer in the latest Elvis-adjacent feature film, Priscilla, a Sofia Coppola–helmed project based on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 memoir, Elvis and Me.

The back-to-back movies have not only reinvigorated interest in Presley’s reputation and legacy, but have also evoked comparisons of both actors’ interpretations of the King. It’s a rivalry Elordi apparently has very little interest in.

“I think it would be a killer double feature,” the Euphoria star told E! News in a recent interview. “I don’t know why people make art a blood sport. They turn it into the Coliseum. It’s fucking absurd.”

Similarly, Butler had nothing but kind words for Elordi as the latter prepared to take up the King’s mantle. “I just wish him all the best,” Butler told Variety on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. “We haven’t spoken, but I hope he has a great time.”

Clearly, the stans have not heeded the performers’ calls for peace. Since Priscilla officially dropped in theaters last month, X has been split into different camps: Team Jacob, Team Austin, or Team Give-Peace-a-Chance. We gathered all the best reactions below.
