I stand firmly in my belief that a basket is one of the most versatile and functional household items. Cramped freshman living in college kickstarted my container collection with wire and fabric basics; later, The Home Edit’s Clea and Joanna showed me how to stash and stack like a pro, streamlining organizational systems from room to room with containers galore. Over the years, baskets have remained my space optimization and storage staples, whether in the pantry or under the sink. And let me tell you: It can be challenging to find affordable and durable options! Luckily Dollar Tree’s brand-new viral collapsible basket just so happens to be the latest and greatest smart storage solution.

These adorable organizers just dropped in stores this week, and are useful all over the house. The $1.25 baskets come in white, black, and gray and measure out to 12 inches by 7.9 inches by 6.3 inches when they’re unfolded. At the moment, the new collapsible gems are only available in-store, but these smaller handle-less collapsible baskets on the Dollar Tree website are a close second. Both options are super on-trend with their industrial-meets-neutral vibe that adds a touch of style to your storage needs.

When I first saw them, I was immediately reminded of Urban Outfitters’ ultra-chic Felix folding storage crates, including the caddy with handles which is about the same size as the Dollar Tree version, but goes for $14 (over 11 times the price!). Comparing the two baskets, they have nearly identical features. Both are lightweight, plastic, collapsible, and stackable with handles. They’re highly portable with several purposes (think: storing cleaning supplies, condiments, pantry staples, crafting goods, and stackable fridge or freezer foods, or as a vessel for kitchen counter decor, or as an easy-to-clean Easter basket).

However, the Dollar Tree option is the clear standout with its unbeatable price and overall product value. I own a few small Felix folding crates that retail at $8 each, and I would opt for the Dollar Tree version now instead. Plus, Dollar Tree’s basket can be easily accessorized with the store’s white basket labels too, for an extra-organized accent. Run, don’t walk, to your local store to snag them before they’re gone!
