Stüssy Shoe Collaborations Through the Years: Nike, Dr. Martens, Clarks and More
In 1982, Shawn Stüssy accidentally entered the fashion space when he wrote his small California-based surfboard company’s logo on a T-shirt. Now, 40 years later, his brand has become one of the founding members of the streetwear trend. His brand has expanded all over the world with Stüssy Chapter stores in the biggest cities like New York, London, Sydney, Milan and Singapore. The company’s laid-back aesthetic has become the inspiration for so many designers to start their own streetwear companies like X-Large, Freshjive and Phat Farm.
The free-spirited brand has diversified to reach every part of the apparel space, including outerwear and accessories. Although Stüssy has not entered the footwear space independently, the company has still influenced the space with its collaborations over the years. The brand has created noteworthy collections with top brands like Nike, Converse, Dr. Martens and more.

Stüssy x Nike, 2023
Stüssy and Nike have become regular partners through the years and for their latest collection, the two created a new iteration of the Flight ’89 sneaker. The new sets feature a low-top silhouette accompanied by snakeskin panels on the sides of the lace-up closure. Each of the three colorways is completed with speckled detailing on the midsole.
Stüssy x Birkenstock, 2023
In 2023, the brand collaborated with Birkenstock to reimagine the footwear brand’s Kyoto style. A combination of Birkenstock’s comfort and support and Stüssy’s fondness of skate and streetwear culture created the Solana sandal, a slip-on silhouette with a suede upper lined with shearling. The set, which comes in three colorways, is completed with a thick overarching strap and a cork-latex footbed.
Stüssy x Converse, 2023
Another regular collaborator for the streetwear brand, Stüssy and Converse released a reiteration of the Chuck 70 last March. The classic silhouette featured a sail-based canvas with pearlized studs formed in the shape of Stüssy’s double S logo on one side of the lace-up closure. The set is completed with a matching outsole with black piping throughout.
Stüssy x Nike, 2022
Stüssy and Nike created a rendition of the Air Penny 2 sneakers in November of 2022. Featuring a two-tone color scheme on the upper, green suede encompasses the ankle collar while a black hue surrounds it. Stüssy branding appears on the top of the angled sole, against the ribbed detailing that follows through the sole until a Max Air unit on the heel.
Stüssy x Converse, 2022
The 2022 Stüssy x Converse “8-Ball” collection featured a navy blue Chuck 70 Hi and a vibrant green One Star. The collaboration consisted of a hairy suede upper with an 8-Ball logo taking the place of the usual Converse patch logo. Both of the sets were completed with a co-branded tongue tag, black shoe laces and a contrasting white sole.
Stüssy x Nike, 2022
For Spring 2022, Stüssy and Nike delivered a trio of Air Force 1 Mid sneakers to the retail shelves. Two of the colorways featured a thick hemp on the upper, while the last two-tone set was composed of a black and gray leather construction. The brands added to the collection with matching apparel ranging from t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants and beanies.
Stüssy x Dr. Martens, 2021
Stüssy brought a new take to Dr. Martens’ signature 6-eye boot in 2021. Taking inspiration from one of the footwear brands’ original 60’s work boots, the 939 features a suede or leather upper with a padded collar for added comfort. The neutral sets are completed with utilitarian hiker-style laces and a ‘Stüssy Work Gear’ logo on the tongue and ankle.
Stüssy x Nike, 2020
The Stussy x Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2 collaboration was released with two installments, one with two styles in March of 2020 and another in April. Each low-top set featured a textile mesh upper and a foam midsole accompanied by a caged Zoom Air unit in the heel for comfort. Stüssy branding is visible on the tongue and heel tab.
Stüssy x Clarks Originals, 2019
In 2019, Stüssy collaborated with Clarks Originals to rework the footwear brand’s iconic Wallabee silhouette. Made with Bovine leather upper, the set was sold in two fall-themed colorways, sage and rust. The exposed lining of the slip-on pair features a colorful paisley pattern. The set was completed with a hanging embroidered Stüssy tag and an angled crepe sole.
Stüssy x Dr. Martens, 2019
Stüssy and Dr. Martens teamed up for a holiday collaboration. The 8053 HY hit the retail market in December 2019 as a unisex style that featured a rugged silhouette accompanied by waterproof leather in black and cocoa colorways. The low top set was finished with a hiker lace-up closure, matching Dr. Marten’s infamous bright yellow detailing above the Wintergrip outsole.
Stüssy x New Balance, 2017
Stüssy collaborated with New Balance in 2017 on a limited-edition 990 set. During the rise of the dad trend, the two brands took on the iconic silhouette with a cream colorway composed of a suede upper with white mesh panels. Adding to the N logo on the sides of the lace-up closure is Stussy’s intertwined S logo on the sneaker’s footbed.
Converse x Stüssy, 2016
Celebrating both of the brand’s heritage, Converse and Stüssy worked together on a reiteration of the footwear brand’s iconic One Star ’74 silhouette. The collection includes three colorways encompassing suede low-top sneakers that have black soles and Stüssy graphics, including their iconic crown emblem, the dice, and the 8-ball, which are featured on the tongues of the shoes.
Stüssy x Converse, 2015
Stüssy and Converse collaborated on a limited-edition collection marking the 35th anniversary of the California surf brand. The footwear brand created an exclusive design with wavy lines, dots and zig zags, inspired by Stüssy’s signature Tom Tom prints. The set also included embroidered detailing and the brand’s crown emblem. The collection had an early release in August 2015 exclusive to Stussy Chapter stores worldwide.
Stüssy x Nike, 2013
The 2013 Stüssy x Nike Air Max collaboration included three colorways in “Fossil,” “Black” and “Pink.” The low-top sneakers feature a mesh upper with Stüssy’s branding on the side of lace-up closure and a reverse Swoosh logo on the heel counter. Each monochrome set is completed with a translucent Air Max-cushioned midsole and a black rubber outsole.
Stüssy x Nike, 2005
The Stüssy x Nike SB Dunk Low “Cherry” colorway was inspired by neapolitan ice cream. This was one of the footwear brands’ first collaborations with another brand on a new colorway for the iconic silhouette. The chocolate tone surrounds the strawberry panels along the toe box and sides of the upper. The vanilla color is solely featured on the Swoosh and tongue label.
