“Spy Kids” Stars Daryl Sabara and Alexa PenaVega Reunited on Instagram

Cast reunions from our favorite movies and shows have been happening a ton lately, and one of the best recent ones took place earlier this week between Spy Kids stars Daryl Sabara and Alexa PenaVega on Instagram Live.

According to Buzzfeed, the Spy Kids reunion happened during Meghan Trainor's "Live From Home Tour" to help fundraise for Feeding America. Meghan, who is married to Daryl, kicked off the IG Live session by sharing with her followers that she and her Spy Kids alum hubby had just finished watching the first movie. Daryl spent some time doing a Q&A with fans on IG Live, revealing fun things like the warts his character, Juni Cortez, has in Spy Kids were fake and that he took ballet classes as a kid — that led to him putting those dancing skills to good use in Spy Kids 2.

Daryl also revealed he still keeps in touch with his Spy Kids cast mates and, it was at this point in the IG Live sesh that Meghan introduced a "surprise guest": Alexa, a.k.a. Carmen Cortez. The reunion was the definition of "pure joy", with Daryl and Alexa reminiscing about their time on Spy Kids and laughing over some of the weirder moments about filming, like when Daryl was desperate for someone to remove the fake warts once filming for the day had wrapped but there was no one around to help him.

Meghan and Daryl also revealed to Alexa and the IG Live audience that Meghan's parents had purchased one of Juni's outfits and his special ring to gift to Daryl, which led Alexa to reveal (via People) she had one of Carmen's costumes and Carmen's silver lunchbox, which is "a little beat up" but proudly displayed in her office. And even though Daryl and Alexa go way back, this IG Live hangout was the first time Meghan had a chance to meet Alexa, which of course was very sweet and led to lots of mutual fandom.

The Spy Kids IG Live reunion lasted 40 minutes, and literally every second of it was glorious. You can check out a brief excerpt from the reunion below and feel a rush of Spy Kids nostalgia as you watch.
