Springfield hot sauce company opens brick-and-mortar shop; food truck returns

This week in Springfield foodie news, a food truck returns and a hot sauce company opens a brick-and-mortar location.

Food truck reopens after finding chef

The Gypsy food truck, 2782 W. Republic Road, is reopening after about a month hiatus. The menu is largely the same, featuring the Buffalo mac 'n' cheese and beef stroganoff in addition to new items like panzanella salad. The truck will still sell cake slices.

"We’ve changed a couple recipes around, & even added some new items to the list," the business said in a Facebook comment.

The Gypsy will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Local hot sauce company opens store in Springfield

Springfield Trading Co., established by Anthony Brent in 2022, is opening a store at 225 E. Sunshine St. It will carry their hot sauces, seasonings and merchandise. It will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Springfield Trading Co.'s products are sold in more than a dozen states, including at Bass Pro Shops. In Springfield, the products are available at Harter House, Brown Derby, Park Central Market and more.
